Rather than transporting Starbucks products to their franchisees and returning to distribution centers with empty vehicles, we proposed a solution that allows the sharing of human and material resources. Our solution involves several clients sharing tractors and trailers, to optimize deliveries and generate substantial savings on their transportation costs. Not only is this shared solution an efficient way to combine resources and save money, it’s also more eco-responsible.
Transporters are dependent on distributors for vehicle loading. Massive supply chain increases as a result of the pandemic and the scarcity of warehouse personnel resulted in significant loading delays at one of our customer’s warehouses, which meant our drivers had to wait many hours every morning. To solve these issues, we trained our drivers to work in the customer’s warehouse by preparing and loading the orders before making their deliveries.
Faced with manpower shortages and the complexity of delivery to its convenience stores, Couche-Tard wanted to explore new transportation solutions. Our research led us to develop a custom vehicle for Couche-Tard. This multi-zone prototype offers a new, simpler way to deliver pallets to convenience stores. As an added benefit, this vehicle’s driver needs only to hold a class 5 license — a first in the industry. Already other food service and pharmaceutical customers have expressed interest in this new operational model.
